A CHRISTMAS road safety campaign found one in eight drivers were sozzled or high in its first week.
Police launching a clampdown stopped and tested 406 — arresting 51 under the influence of drink or المخدرات.
They included a woman twice the alcohol limit who had a ten-month-old baby in her car.
One driver was swigging lager from a can.
Another was arrested twice in two days for impaired driving and had taken الكوكايين.
Lancashire Police said: “It goes without saying that those arrested are the lucky ones — because they weren’t killed, seriously injured or left responsible for an innocent bystander being killed or injured.”
Anyone who causes a death while drink or drug driving faces up to 14 سنوات في السجن.
Being caught over the limit risks up to six months in jail.
شرطة and Crime Commissioner Andrew Snowden added: “The life-changing impacts of drink or drug-driving are simply not worth getting behind the wheel.
“This intensification at عيد الميلاد builds on our proactive work to tackle this type of reckless behaviour all year round.”
