They included a woman twice the alcohol limit who had a ten-month-old baby in her car.

One driver was swigging lager from a can.

Another was arrested twice in two days for impaired driving and had taken cocaína.

Lancashire Police said: “It goes without saying that those arrested are the lucky ones — because they weren’t killed, seriously injured or left responsible for an innocent bystander being killed or injured.”

Anyone who causes a death while drink or drug driving faces up to 14 años en la cárcel.

Being caught over the limit risks up to six months in jail.

Policía and Crime Commissioner Andrew Snowden added: “The life-changing impacts of drink or drug-driving are simply not worth getting behind the wheel.

“This intensification at Navidad builds on our proactive work to tackle this type of reckless behaviour all year round.”
