Einer commuter said they were “very irritating, repetitive, silly, sometimes painfully loud”.

Another said security statements such as “See it, say it, sorted” were “inane and over-frequent”.

And another said: “Why are modern trains so noisy?

“You get bombarded with constant automated announcements and buzzers going off every time the doors open and close.

Trains survived without these for years and people managed to get on and off without difficulty.”

Die Regierung pledged last year to simplify the announcements to provide a “single source of truth” as part of a plan to improve the railway experience.

Officials also mulled over introducing regional dialects — but rejected that as impractical.
