ANT McPartlin got choked up as he returned to hosting Britain’s Got Talent in front of a live audience for the first time in two years.
Standing alongside best pal and co-star Declan Donnelly, an emotional Ant revealed they were devastated when coronavirus prevented crowds from watching last year’s finals in the flesh.
O espelho reports that the 46-year-old said: “Excuse me while I go and cry. We are so excited to be back. We were gutted to miss last year and not get to see you all. But we’re back, raring to go and have one hell of a show for you.”
In a BGT first, viewers cheered on the finalists from their homes, their support seen through their webcams.
But now with the audience back, the judges looked reinvigorated and were busrting with banter.
Simon Cowell and David Walliams swapped barbs about their relationships past and present, with the latter mocking Simon for taking seven years to propose to girlfriend Lauren Silverman.
The BGT boss was also humiliated by David when he could not recognise the English flag.
The Little Britain comic yelled at his fellow judge: “You idiot. What country are we in now? England.”

Simon, 62, was shamed when a five-year-old called Charles was showcasing his knowledge of national banners.
The multi-millionaire, who has lived almost entirely in the US for two years, was challenged to a contest with the lad and shown a St George’s Cross.
Ele disse: “Oh, I know that — it’s Switzerland.”
Simon’s response left the Britain’s Got Talent audience at the London Palladium in stitches and Walliams, 50, em descrença.
The Cross of St George, the national emblem for 800 anos, is a red cross on white while the Swiss have a white cross on red.
Simon, engaged to Lauren Silverman, 44, has spent most of his time in America recovering from an accident at his home in Malibu, Califórnia.
