BIRMINGHAM are rivalling Bournemouth in the race for Peterborough star Siriki Dembele.
The Cherries have had two bids of £1million and £1.3m rejected for the 25-year-old, whose deal is up in the summer.
Lee Bowyer’s Blues are now readying an offer of around £1.5m to test Posh’s resolve.
Peterborough are in a relegation scrap and are currently two points from safety, so would be loath to lose one of their key players.
Dembele joined from Grimsby four years ago and has hit 31 metas en 147 appearances for Posh, including five this season.
mientras tanto, Bournemouth remain keen on a move for Derby captain Tom Lawrence.
If Birmingham do end up snapping up Dembele, it’s still unlikely to please furious fans.
Thousands of Blues supporters set off flares outside the stadium during a huge protest against the club’s owners at the weekend.

Blue smoke poured into the Midlands air, while banners were held up against the board.
One huge one was emblazoned ‘mis-management and no trust’, while another read: “Our club has a history of generations.
“Mismanagement is unacceptable, the supporters won;t tolerate it any longer.
“BSHL it’s time to sell. You’ve embarrassed the club enough.”
After five years of stagnation, Blues’ partidarios’ patience has finally snapped, with much of St Andrew’s still in a state of disrepair and closed off to them, while Lee Bowyer’s squad also continues to crumble.
