Boy, 12, suffers ‘significant injuries’ after dog mauls his face and chest

A BOY is suffered from “significant injuries” after a vicious dog mauled his face and chest in a savage attack on a city estate.

The 12-year-old sustained injuries to his face, back, chest and legs in the attack, while a man in his 20s also has injuries to his legs.

Staffordshire Police and the air ambulance rushed to Dawlish Drive in Bentilee around 2pm on Thursday afternoon, after receiving reports of the horrific incident, Stoke on Trent Live reported.

A spokesperson said the boy had been taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital by ambulance.

A spokesperson from the West Midlands Ambulance Service said they sent both an ambulance and an air ambulance to the scene, with a specialised trauma doctor and a critical care ambulance on board .

“On arrival crews found one patient who had sustained serious injuries and was conveyed by land ambulance to hospital,” the spokesperson said.

“A second patient, with less serious injuries was discharged on scene.”

Enquiries were underway into the circumstances around the attack.
