Bettison had called the cops shortly after 1am on October 31 claiming to have killed his wife.

Jurors at the Old Bailey heard the recording of the 999 conversation where he can be heard telling the call handler: “We’ve had a fight, and I think I’ve killed her. She’s dead.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and found Ildiko unresponsive in the bedroom with facial injuries.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, Ildiko was pronounced dead at the scene.

When officers questioned him at the house, Bettison shouted at the cops: “I killed the f***ing b****, what more do you want to know.

Bettison was arrested at the scene and was charged the same day with his wife’s murder, the Met Police said.

On the night of the murder the couple had been drinking heavily and had been heard by neighbours arguing loudly inside their house, das Gericht hörte.

Gemäß MyLondon, the couple’s 24-year-old daughter, Zsuzsika, told the court she received a phone call from her father at 1am repeatedly saying: “I’ve killed her, I’ve f***ing killed her.

She and her friend Olivia went to the house, where Bettison reportedly said he hadreached the end of his tether”.

Olivia said she found Ildiko in the bedroom in an unnatural positionwith no obvious signs of a struggle.

Ildiko’s friend had told the court how the couple’s relationship had deteriorated after Bettison quit his job in June 2020.

The friend said the arguments and alcohol abuse had escalated in the months leading up to Ildiko’s killing.

‘NEEDLESS ACT OF VIOLENCE

The court also heard how Bettison was due to be sacked from Transport for London for gross misconduct.

Detective Chief Inspector Vicky Tunstall said: “This was a needless act of extreme violence fuelled by uncontrolled anger and alcohol.

“No amount of remorse on the part of Keith Bettison will bring Ildiko back to her family.

Due to his actions their extended family has lost them both and our thoughts are with them today.”

Forensic examinations found Ildiko had died fromsustained pressure to the neck”, with bruising found on her face and upper body.

Am Dienstag, the jury unanimously found Bettison guilty after a trial at the Old Bailey.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the same court for sentencing on a date to be set in January.
