WE’VE all been there – you get back to your car and you notice the yellow fine that’s been slapped on your windscreen.
But can you get two parking tickets in one day? 这是您需要知道的一切.
Many people may have wondered if you can legally receive two parking tickets in the same day – and the answer is yes.
You can in fact be issued with two parking fines in one day – and you can even get them in the same location.
The general rule is that you can receive a penalty charge notice for the same violation every three hours – so if you’re parked in a prohibited area for a long duration of time, you can easily come back to two or three tickets.
If you do rack up multiple tickets, don’t panic – just make sure to check the times they are issued.
If there is less than three hours between two tickets, you can dispute them and have the second one dismissed.
Can a private parking company take you to court?
Private parking companies can issue you with a fine if they believe you have broken the rules of parking on their premises.
Though private parking companies don’t have the law on their side to enforce their parking restrictions – they do have the same legal rights as we all have to pursue money we are owed.
This means that private parking companies can in fact take you to 法庭 if you ignore your parking fine.
What happens if I don’t pay a parking ticket?
The rules regarding avoiding payment for a parking ticket are strict – and costly.
如果你 don’t pay your Penalty Charge Notice 之内 28 days of it being issued, and it hasn’t been cancelled after an appeal – a Notice to Owner is enforced.
The Council will request the registered keeper’s details from the DVLA and serve a Notice to Owner on that person.
This is a legal document and the purpose of it is to let the registered keeper of the vehicle know that a PCN is outstanding.
If no payment or formal representation is received in response to the Notice to Owner in the time allowed – a Charge Certificate may be sent to the registered keeper.
This will increase the amount of penalty charge by a further 50%.
