THOMAS TUCHEL has admitted his star striker Romelu Lukaku is lacking confidence as his struggle for goals continues.
The Chelsea forward has scored just once so far this year – finding the net in the 5-1 FA Cup thrashing of minnows Chesterfield.
Relations between boss Tuchel and the Belgium international have been strained since the latter gave a controversial interview in which he said the Blues’ system didn’t suit him.
He was subsequently axed from the squad to face Liverpool at the turn of the year, but has since returned to the line-up.
And Tuchel told Sky Sports: '(Lukaku) lacks a bit of confidence, he lacks a bit of delivery, of momentum.
“This is what we try to reinstall which is maybe the most difficult because the strikers are sensitive players.
“It’s not only Romelu who struggles and we don’t have, in die oomblik, anyone else who jumps in and scores and scores and scores.
“So I agree it’s not only about Romelu, it is about our offensive players in general and we try and help them and try to overcome this kind of period because we have trust in all of them, they are our players, and they deserve it.”
