The Weatherfield builder left in 2016 for a new life in Thailand amid the drama surrounding the death of Callum Logan (Sean Ward).

Sue’s character Eileen has remained a regular on the Cobbles and his brother Todd recently returned, after actor Bruno Langley’s exit in 2017. Todd is now played by Gareth Pierce.

Ryan shared snaps of his happy reunion with Sue on Instagram on Friday and told fans: “Today brought back so many fond memories.

“I was just a kid at 16 yrs old when I met this woman & she played my on screen mum for 16 yrs & here we are 22 yrs later with my own kids.

“I love you so much @officialsuecleaver but I’m still in shock you’ve joined instagram.”

Sue also shared the photos, and penned: “Such a beautiful day @ryanthomas4 @lucymeck1 truly blessed to have them in my life.”

Dozens complimented how well Sue looked while others begged for Ryan to reprise his biggest role.

One said: “I absolutely love this! When are you going back to the cobbles as Jason again?? It’s about time he visited his mam xx”

Another said: “Gorgeous! I bet she was glad Jason popped back from Thailand with the Grandkids ?”

Ryan won Celebrity Big Brother two years after leaving Corrie and also took on a small role in Australian soap Neighbours.

He said in 2016 about his Corrie exit: “It’s a risk to leave a show like Coronation Street

“I was in a bubble for 16 years. I love the place, it feels like home and I miss people there.

“But I really enjoy my time out of Corrie, getting to do new things.

“There’s a time to spread your wings and I felt like that was the time for me. I was ready.”
