A HORRIFIED father found his young daughters poisoned, drowned and stabbed to death after returning home to bring them sweets.
The unnamed man from Brazil was on a lunch break at work when he discovered the tiny lifeless bodies of six-year-old Maria Alice and ten-year-old Lavinia.
The woman responsible was allegedly wife Isadora Alves de Faria, 30 who reportedly confessed to murder to police after disposing of their bodies in the garage and running away.
She was said to be battling depression, but had abandoned psychological treatment before she committed the crime in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Her husband was reportedly at work at the time, but had decided to take a break to bring his daughters some snacks.
He found their tiny lifeless bodies on a mattress after which he immediately alerted the police.
The man revealed that he had an argument with his wife earlier that day, but insisted that she had never shown signs of violence before.
Police officers immediately initiated a search with bloodhounds to find the fugitive woman.
“We cannot rule out other lines of investigation, but the main line is that the mother may have carried out the murders,” they reported at the time.
After a six-hour-long search they caught the mother in a forest near the family home in the municipality of Edeia in the state of Goias.
