龙’ Den’s Steven Bartlett FAILED to get on the show as a contestant 10 years before becoming its youngest Dragon.
The 29-year-old millionaire will make his debut on the BBC show next month when series 19 begins.
Steven has been a lifelong fan of the show, having started watching it when he was 12, and in an exclusive chat with The Sun’s TV Mag, he revealed he had even applied to go on the show as a contestant a few years ago.
他说: “I tried to by the way. It’s on my Twitter. If you type in How It’s Going I posted a screen shot: ‘Having a pint with a young entrepreneur who went on Dragon’s Den and got on with Peter and Theo. Awesome to exchange stories.’
“That’s so funny. That was 2013. There is a screen shot of my diary from when I was 18 and I applied for Dragon’s Den, which someone found in an old video I made years ago.
“I had written, ‘I’ve just applied for Dragon’s Den and I’m hoping to hear back. My application was really good so I’m hopeful.’ But I didn’t make it.”
In a twist of fate, Steven was offered the chance to join the show as a Dragon almost a decade to the day of when he applied to be a contestant.
他说: “它是 10 years to the week from when I applied that I was then announced as a Dragon so I thought that was really awesome.”
Asked who he thought might have bought into his pitch at the time if he had made it onto the show, Steven said: “If I’d pitched my business aged 18 I hope all of them would have taken me. I’m an optimist.”
同时, Steven also insisted he has no interest in taking part in reality shows like Strictly Come Dancing or Dancing on Ice.
He explained he had no wish to follow in co-star Deborah Meaden and Sara Davies’ footsteps by doing the BBC One dancing show.
他说: “It’s not for me. They love dancing. I get it.
“I’ve had a few opportunities to do other things and other reality formats. It’s just not me. I don’t want to go to the jungle. I just want to do Dragon’s Den and that’s it.
“I don’t want to do reality TV. I don’t want to skate on ice.”
巨龙’ Den returns on Thursday, 一月 6 at 8pm on BBC One. TV Mag is available for free every Saturday, only in The Sun.
