In the wake of a car crash that left her in a coma – and for which she wasn’t even responsible – Linda found out she’d be prosecuted for drunk driving.

When the day of her court hearing arrives, Linda is comforted by Zack Hudson (portrayed by James Farrar) when she reveals that her divorce from her estranged husband Mick (Danny Dyer) has been finalised.

It’s a big day for Linda but Felix and Finlay Baker (Matthew Morrison and Ashley Byam) are hellbent on cheering her up.

They interrupt to prepare for their Carnival-themed party but are disappointed when she tells them she probably won’t make it.

Meanwhile, Mick is adamant on visiting Linda if she goes to prison, leaving his girlfriend Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) seething.

Linda attends her hearing with Mick by her side, after an emotional goodbye to her children Ollie and Annie.

She delivers a passionate speech about her mistakes, hoping for the best.

Later on, Mick and Linda are shocked by the sentence given by the judge – Linda will not be going to prison.

Ready to celebrate, Linda returns to The Vic and Janine is fuming when she spots her in the local pub.

But Linda’s plans could be thwarted as the villain has one more trick up her sleeve.

While Linda was getting ready for her hearing, Janine decided to enlist Jada Lennox’s (Kelsey Calladine-Smith) help to bring her down.

To push the youngster to do her bidding, Janine even resorts to blackmail.

With the Carnival party underway, Linda joins in the festivities believing the worst is behind her.

However, Zack soon arrives with some alarming news to break to her.

In recent months, Janine has tried everything to try and keep Linda away from Mick as she couldn’t help but notice their palpable chemistry.

Janine even paid Linda to leave Albert Square with money she had stolen from the latter’s daughter Nancy.

This resulted in a tense confrontation and a car crash.

The well-known schemer left the scene, framing Linda for drunk driving as her reliance on the bottle is common knowledge among residents and her family.

But will Janine finally get what she wants?

EastEnders airs on BBC One from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm.
