The Bootle-born dad of four died aged 81 in July last year after a 14-year battle with Parkinson’s.

À M, who hosted TV game shows such as Name That Tune, Crosswits and Gambit, was a teacher before turning to singing and comedy. He got his first break in working men’s clubs.

Tom won TV talent show Opportunity Knocks three times and starred in The Comedians, a telly show for comics on the club circuit.
From there he hosted game shows and his own series, watched by 12 million.

He won Celebrity Come Dine With Me in 2010 et, dans 2011, was on Pointless with Denise Lewis, his Olympic hero daughter-in-law.

He once said: “When I grew up in wartime Merseyside, I never dreamed I’d have a career that started as a schoolteacher, went to folk singer, then country and western, stand-up talker and TV presenter. I’ve been lucky.”

The Probate Office put his estate at £3.53million.
