A YOUNG girl was ‘sexually touched’ by a man at a bus stop, before a heroic bystander stepped in to save her.
Essex Police confirmed that they have launched an investigation over allegations of a man assaulting the 12-year-old girl in Southend, Essex.
Cops say the girl was sat on a bench near the C/D stand of Southend bus depot when the man, who was already sat in the area, began to touch her inappropriately.
A bus was reportedly unloading right next to them at the time.
It is understood that a woman confronted the attacker and began to argue with him, which allowed the girl to escape and raise the alarm.
The suspect was described as a white man in his 60s with short, grey hair.
He was also described as wearing a pinstriped suit and black jacket.
The incident occurred on October 29 at around 2pm.
