GLORIA Hunniford left the house for the first time to return to Loose Women after suffering a horrific fall.
The broadcaster, 82, admitted she was “very worried” at hospital after breaking the bone in her eye socket in the fall which forced her to miss the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Gloria “felt happy” to be back on set after falling so badly at her son’s home she had to be rushed to hospital.
Sharing a photo of her badly bruised leg, Gloria said the bruising around her eye was just as bad but did not want to share what she looked like without make-up.
Host Jane Moore warned before showing the photo, “to viewers watching this next image is graphic,” as the other panellists Judi Love and Brenda Edwards gasped in horror at the injury.
Gloria credited the paramedics with preventing her from needing skin grafts.
“Thankfully the ambulance was able to bring the skin over, otherwise I would’ve lost a lot of skin,” she explained.
Gloria described how she tripped on the rug at her son’s house onto “a hard wooden floor.”

“I cracked the bone under my eye… there’s a bone around the eye that holds the socket in place,” she explained.
“So, as long as the muscle holds it in place I should be ok.”
Jane told her that when they Facetimed, “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing” about her friend’s bruised face.
Gloria admitted: “I thought ‘if ” can get a Phantom of the Opera mask to cover [her face] that would be great’.

“I’ve not been able to go down the mall because I don’t have anyone to do my makeup.”
But Gloria then admitted she “didn’t know where I was” in hospital but then became very concerned about her health.
” was very worried about a clot forming in my head,” she explained, before saying how she ordered a series of other tests to give her peace of mind.
But even though her confidence was shaken after the fall, Gloria believed returning to Loose Women would be critical to her recovery.
“I’m a reasonably confident person usually… but falls are bad,” she said.
“I feel happy coming here, it’s good for my head, I’ve always worked and want to come back to do what I’ve always done, what is normal.
“I feel safe.”
