Great British Sewing Bee fans all say the same thing about Antony Cotton as Anneka Rice’s dress leaves judge blushing

ANNEKA Rice left one judge blushing tonight while Antony Cotton threatened to explode on the Great British Sewing Bee.

TV adventurer Anneka, 63, and Coronation Street legend Antony, 46, brought plenty of laughs in tonight’s BBC One Christmas special.

The pair tried their best to wow resident judges Esme Young and Patrick Grant, along with Ghost actor Kiell Smith-Bynoe and Reverend Kate Bottley in the celeb line-up.

But Antony had the added pressure of needing to impress his dressmaker mum, and came out top in the first round making a fancy Christmas jumper.

The second challenge, a Christmas fancy dress transformation, sparked some hilarious creations.

Anneka surprised the judges with a revealing punk frock made from black PVC, sexy garters, and red wool, that viewers at home said looked like a dress for a dominatrix.

Giving his verdict on the gown, fashion designer Patrick remarked: “It’s sort of punk angel, a saucy christmas punk angel.

“I’m not sure what kind of party she’s going to…”

Elsewhere, Antony looked sour-faced when the judges critiqued his plain smock dress decorated with red pockets and a huge bow.

After coming in third place, he raged: “I made it all myself! I made the bow.

“I thought I was at a sewing bee, I’m not at a sewing bee! I’m fuming.

“Judges praised my sewing, and yet I came third!”

But Antony – who plays factory worker Sean Tully in Corrie – went on to win the special thanks to his glamorous party dress creation in the final round.

And viewers said the same thing after his win: “Lol. My God does Antony Cotton take himself seriously. It’s a Christmas reality show beloved, it’s not deep.”

Another said: “Antony really wants to win this. Expect a strop if he doesn’t.”

And one more wrote on Twitter: “If Antony Cotton doesn’t win, can somebody quickly take the dressmaking scissors off him ✂️”
