THE mum of a 10-year-old girl killed by an alleged drink driver has told her friends it feels like a “bad dream”.
Lily Morris was on her way to the chippy with her best friend at around 5pm on Saturday when they were both hit by a red Land Rover Discovery.
After the car struck the two children on Coleridge Road in Oldham, مانشستر, it collided with a lamp post, قالت الشرطة.
Writing on Facebook, Lily’s heartbroken mum said “sadly my little girl has lost her life” and later told pals she felt it “was a bad dream”.
A neighbour said she wrapped the two girls in dressing gowns as they lay injured in the road to keep them warm as medics frantically worked on them.
The woman, who asked not to be named, said she “heard a crash” and her neighbour “yelled at me to come outside as he said there’s a girl that’s been knocked over”, the Mirror reports.
“One of them got knocked over and was being worked on outside mine,قالت.
“I gave them both my dressing gowns to keep them warm as they didn’t have any parents in the area and I just wanted to look after them since they couldn’t.
“The other girl was near the bus stop on her side, the other was on the grass in the dark but we found her and then I rang for help.”
Another witness, who also didn’t wish to be named, said of the girl: “I could tell she was in a bad way because when I went over I couldn’t feel any pulse and a police officer later arrived and took over the CPR.”

“She had 100s of friends who attended Hodge Clough Primary. Lily’s family and her best friend who was with her at the time are heartbroken.”
Neighbours of her family also paid tribute to “lovely” Lily who had a “beautiful smile”.
Greater Manchester Police said the other child, whose age has not been released, was taken to hospital with an ankle and head injury.
She remains in hospital but is in a stable condition.
The force confirmed a 42-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence.
Sergeant Matthew Waggett, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, قالت: “Our thoughts are with the little girl’s family at this unimaginably difficult time.
“Whilst we have arrested a man, we are continuing at pace with our investigation as we work to establish the full circumstances of this collision and are asking that anyone who has dashcam footage or any information about the red Land Rover Discovery during the collision or prior to the collision speaks to police.
“This collision happened at a busy time of day and we are hopeful that there are a number of witnesses who can assist police with their enquiries.”
A spokesman for the force said said: “At around 5pm yesterday (18 ديسمبر), police were called to reports of a collision on Coleridge Road, Oldham between a red Land Rover Discovery and two children.
“Following the collision with the two children, the car then collided with a lamp post.
“Emergency services attended and a 10-year-old girl was taken to hospital with serious injuries where, despite the best work of hospital staff, she sadly died a short time later.
“The other child was taken to hospital with an ankle and head injury where she remains in a stable condition.”
Detectives have appealed for information and are urging anyone with dashcam footage of the Land Rover during or before the collision to get in touch.
