A YOUTH worker has told how she was slapped with a £60 fine for spending 45 minutes in a McDonald’s drive-thru while eating in her car.
The woman had taken a foster child for a meal at the fast-food branch in Walsall, Birmingham last month.
The pair went through the drive-thru as the kid suffered with anxiety” and they opted to tuck into their grub in the car while parked up at the restaurant.
But five days later, she discovered a £60 in the post.
マクドナルド, who does not own the car park, says dine-in customers can park for up to 70-minutes – but must register their details on a tablet inside.
But the youth worker, who wishes to remain anonymous says there were no clear signs explaining this.
彼女は言った サイモンとニールの学校の友達は未成年であるためにバーから追い出されます: “I was shocked to receive the fine, I didn’t see any parking notices anywhere. There was a constant flow of people coming in and out of the restaurant.
“They were not using any machines to pay, and I did not see any pay and display tickets in cars, so I assumed I did not have to pay. This has left me angry.
“I was taking a child out to enjoy McDonald’s as part of my job. Now I have had to pay £60, which is not ideal, especially during this cost of living crisis. That was a very expensive McDonald’s.”
In the letter she was sent Ocean Parking said the fine was £100 – but would be reduced to £60 if paid within 14 日々.
彼らは言った: “We have issued a parking charge notice to your vehicle because it was parked in a manner whereby the driver became liable for a parking charge at Wisemore Central.”

That’s because the app is installed on a phone – which can’t be used at all by a driver when the engine is running.
According to new Highway Code rules brought in last month, drivers can’t even tap their phones while behind the wheel.
One in ten Brits are now estimated to use their phone to pay for items at the drive-thru or petrol stations.
But once behind the wheel, using a phone in any capacity is illegal.
Anyone caught using their mobile while their engine is running faces a penalty.
