親愛なるDEIDRE: I SENT a text to my husband saying I felt suicidal, but because he was away at his work Christmas do his response was: “I’ll be home in a few hours.”
He wasn’t there for me, yet I’ve been there for him time and time again.
We’ve been married for 28 years and our children have flown the nest. 私は 54 and he is 57.
My dad died in September and I was devastated.
We went on holiday for three weeks to Tenerife in November, but I dreaded coming home to the cold weather and my humdrum life with no Dad to look after.
I’ve felt so depressed, and felt lonely on the night my husband was out.
I thought he’d come straight home, but clearly his colleagues are more important.
DEIDRESAYS: If you are depressed and/or grieving, your husband coming home early from the party wouldn’t have done much to lighten your mood.
