هذا الوقت, we’ve tried mulled wine من عند تيسكو, أسدا, موريسونز, سينسبري, Aldi و ليدل.

For each one, we gave it a score out of 10 for taste and a score out of 10 for value, based on the price per 100ml.

This score also took into account the alcohol content.

Here’s how the wines scored out of 20 overall:

Tesco Vineyards Mulled Wine

The mulled wine from Asda was the joint-cheapest we tested, at just 37p per 100ml.

But it was thin and artificially sweet, with a bitter aftertaste.

Our testers thought the taste was similar to cough medicine.

It was rich and really Christmassy.

This was the second most expensive mulled wine we tried, في 50 per 100ml, but it had a vinegary smell and had the sharp taste of very cheap red wine.

Despite having the highest alcohol content, في 8.7 per cent ABV, the label revealed it wasn’t actually classed as a wine.

Instead it was a “flavoured beverage containing wine”.

The bottle was very decorative but the festive joy ended there.
