Iain picked it up, placed it in a large plastic box with air holes and put it in his airing cupboard to keep it warm.
He and wife Candi believe the harmless albino corn snake escaped from a neighbour’s in Foulsham, Norfolk.
They named it Clive and passed it on to Wild Touch rescue centre.
Mum-of-two Candi, 52, gesê: “My husband is so laid back. He just went back to bed and carried on sleeping.
“The poor thing must have been really stressed having seen Iain in bed.”
The couple believe the snake could have been in the room a few days as their cat had been acting strangely.
Candi added: “Socks had been hissing and staring fixated at something. Agterna, the snake may have even been under the covers on Sunday night when I was in bed.”
Jessica Walsh from Wild Touch is checking a former villager’s claim that the snake is his pet and had escaped late last year.
