IDRIS Elba has been spotted shooting for upcoming Luther spin-off movie for Netflix in association with the BBC, and it’s about time.
The snaps show him filming scenes at night alongside actress Cynthia Erivo, 35, a new cast member who will play a fellow detective.
Fans can see the 49-year-old decked out in his titular character’s familiar woollen overcoat and a blue shirt, and Cynthia in a smart navy military trench coat with gold buttons.
Idris also looked a little worse for wear in the shots, sporting minor wounds to his nose and cheek and just the slightest hint of a black eye.
The pair were surrounded by masked crew members as production continued on the movie, which Idris previously said he was looking forward to making.
It is thought the project, which Netflix have described as “an epic continuation of the Luther saga reimagined for film”, will throw a couple of major problems the policeman’s way.
It looks like one of these will come courtesy of Cynthia’s character, who it’s believed will double up as Luther’s nemesis.

It’s also believed that Andy Serkis will star as another arch enemy to rattle Luther’s cage.
Speaking to NME last year before filming had begun, Idris said: “With film, the sky is the limit. You can be a little bit more bold with the storylines, and a little bit more international, and a little more up the scale”.
“But”, er fügte hinzu, “John Luther is always going to be John Luther”.
The series has scooped a whopping 11 Emmy nominations so far, as well as a number of other honours.
Idris won the Golden Globe for best performance by an actor in a miniseries or motion picture made for television.
The London-born star also walked away with a Screen Actors Guild award for outstanding performance by a male actor.
Luther seasons one to five are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
