THE Starbucks coffee menu is filled with yummy options to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Whether it’s the Mocha Frappuccino, Vanilla Latte, or seasonal Pumpkin Spice—the possibilities are endless!
One former Starbucks barista, who goes by @LifeOfBusyNothings on TikTok, said that if you’re craving a caramel-filled drink, you may want to stay away from one obvious choice: The Caramel Macchiato.
En el clip, she began to explain: “For many of you, a lot of the things at Starbucks just don’t make sense.
“So as a former barista, I thought I would share why Starbucks does some of the things that they do and how to make sense of it.”
She then revealed the truth: “So first of all, something that you all need to know and just accept, is that the Caramel Macchiato does not have caramel syrup in it.”
For most of us, that seems a bit counterintuitive. If the drink’s title says caramel, we imagine there is caramel mixed inside.
Pero, the woman shared, Italians will understand why.

“Macchiato is Italian for marked, so it is caramel marked.
“The thing that makes the Caramel Macchiato the Caramel Macchiato, is the caramel drizzle on top. It’s marking the macchiato.
“If your macchiato is hot, the idea is you have a sip of caramel before you hit the espresso, and as you drink the drink, it gets sweeter as you go through because the espresso is on top, and the flavored milk is at the bottom.”
For those of us who prefer the drink iced, she said it will often look unmixed—but that’s because it’s supposed to be that way.
“If you have an Iced Macchiato, then it’s the opposite: start sweet and end up bitter.”
Her comments section was filled with curious customers as well as other Starbucks employees:
“¿Puedes decirle a mi próximo vuelo que me espere?. It made no sense before but after I worked at Starbucks for a bit it started to make a lot more sense! It’s like a whole new language,” una persona escribió.
“I definitely need more of this series,” agregó otro
