GETTING the perfect selfie to share on social media can take hours of work, from getting your hair just right to slathering on make-up to give yourself the ultimate glow up.
Sometimes it can be surprising just how different people look when they strip things back and while it can lead to girls being called a catfish, there’s some women who are nothing but proud to embrace their natural selves.
Take TikTok influencer Lilyy (@lilyymagno), she’s the first to admit that what you see on social media of her is fake and she proudly owns up to being a catfish who wears dentures and is more than happy to go without her war paint.
Lilyy has found herself going viral online thanks to her honest posts that see her constantly removing her dentures to show off her toothless smile.
And she’s the first to poke fun at herself, revealing she likes to shock boys by removing her teeth.
In one of her TikTok videos, the 25-year-old joked that boys often search her on Instagram and add her on Snapchat, only to then be greeted with a photo of her posing without her fake teeth.
Another of her video's sees her imitating a guy’s response when she pulls out her teeth for the first time and says: “I need to show you something.”
She jokes their reaction is them looking floored and instantly wanting to tell her to “put that thing back where it came from”.
Unfazed by people thinking she’s a catfish, Lilyy encourages her followers to be “real” on social media and wanting to lead by example, she says that’s why she’s always removing her teeth in her videos to help “normalise” Dit.
“What do you see on social media? Serious, this is what I see – this is my own page,” she says in one video while scrolling through perfect snaps of herself she’s previously posted.
Pulling out her teeth, sy sê: “Do we see this?”
Pointing at her Instagram page, Lilyy continues: “Fake, vals, vals – none of this is real, this right here is real [holds up dentures]. Maybe social media is an escape from reality, but think about what it does to your mental health…
“This is why I make videos about my teeth. I’m just trying to be real.”
Lilly revealed online that she had to have two of her front teeth removed a year ago and has had an implant added for another tooth. She now wears dentures to fill the gap where her she’s lost teeth.
At first she says she was “mortified” and thought she was going to look “ugly”, but now she’s using her experience to urge others to be “more real” aanlyn, as she believes it can help others feel confident about themselves.
“OK, maybe some of my teeth jokes can get annoying to a lot of you guys, I understand, but to a lot of people, they’re inspiring and they help people build confidence and show that I’m really not afraid to show who I am on and offline,” sy sê.
“Sometimes I do like to get done up, I do like to do my hair, I do like to put on make-up and my fake teeth and a filter and whatever, I like to feel pretty.
“But we should also be able to feel pretty and self confidence and self love without all of that.”
People are often seen praising Lilyy in the comments of her social media posts, with one person sharing: “You look beautiful either way and I like that you show that people don’t need to look perfect to be perfect.”

Relating to Lilyy’s videos about people with dentures dating, one girl posted: “I have so much respect for these videos, I could never have that much confidence, but it’s like this every time trying to meet someone.”
A fourth added: “I LITERALLY HAVE THE SAME THING GIRL. Just different teeth missing but I can relate so much.”
