EASTENDERS star James Bye has shut down any fears about the “Strictly curse”.
Due to the harsh schedules, sexy dance moves and close quarters with their partners, their off-screen romances sometimes suffer as a result.
Strictly became regarded as “cursed” after a series of very public break-ups from show participants – and ever since, more and more fan favourites have succumbed.
Over the course of 20 series of the BBC favourite, nearly a dozen couples have split up thanks to their time on the show.
But dad-of-three James – who wed wife Victoria in 2012 – said they will not be affected by the so-called “curse”.
Speaking to the Mirror, James said: “It’s not really come up for us. It’s one of those things attached to the show but being a part of it, I genuinely don’t see any of that.”
He added that it was actually Victoria who encouraged him to say “yes” to the show after he was asked to appear.
James said: “I’m a massive family man, and both Victoria and I pride ourselves on putting our family first at all times so before I even contemplated it I wanted to speak to her first.”

Meanwhile, yesterday James explained his fear of not reaching the final on Strictly.
It’s because he is following in the footsteps other EastEnders stars who have been very successful on the dancing competition.
Asked whether he has the glitterball trophy in his sights, James said: “I’d love to get to Blackpool, then you can say you really gave it a good go. There is also the added pressure that the last three people from EastEnders have been in the final!”

And even those Walford favourites who didn’t make the final made quite the impression.
James revealed: “My best friend, Davood Ghadami [Kush Kazemi] was on the show years ago, and I came to watch and he was great. I remember him doing the Paso Doble and that did look good.
“At the time I wound him up about it, but I was really proud of him. Also Jake Wood, when he did the snake hips to Mambo No. 5, that was a million miles from Max Branning.”
