Man Utd will have to pay Pogba £15m in wages even if he QUITS in summer transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED face a near £15 million pay off if they cut their losses on Paul Pogba this month.

And that could sway them into keeping the French midfielder for another season – even if it means losing him for nothing in 12 maande.

Pogba, 28, has so far given no indication he will sign the £400,000-a-week contract he has been offered, which would make him the highest paid player in the Premier League.

United would demand up to £60 million if they sell him in this window, yet Paris St Germain are unwilling to pay much more than half the £89m he cost from Juventus five years ago.

But the Reds would also have to pay up the remaining 12 months of Pogba’s contract if he does leave now, as he has not put in an official transfer request.

And that leaves them facing a dilemma over whether to keep him to the final year of his deal, even though he would be a free agent next summer.

Yet if Verenigde, who have spent big in the current window, feel he could make the difference to their Champions League and Premier League hopes they could opt to take the risk.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer certainly hasn’t given up on tempting Pogba to sign a new deal and has insisted he remains part of the long-term plan.

United have already spent nearly £120m to land Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, and are assembling a formidable squad.

Yet having lost Pogba for free once, when he ran down his contract and joined Juventus in 2012, they are wary of the kickback in allowing him to do so again.

And if the club DO decide to sell, Solskjaer wants a quick decision to allow him enough time to bring in a top-level replacement.
