A MOTHER and her 2-year-old daughter were rescued from a sinking car on Sunday as her husband shouted at cops to shoot him while swinging a knife.
The trio was spotted standing on top of the car in the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania around 3.30am.
Video of the harrowing rescue taken by a local photographer showed the frightening scene.
Two city workers saw the car in the river near the Dock Street Dam and called the authorities.
The man was screaming, “Shoot me, shoot me,” to responding police officers, according to Dauphin County District Attorney Francis Chardo.
Police attempted to calm the man down verbally but were forced to shoot at him when he turned a hunting knife on the woman.
It’s unknown if the man, identified by police as Miquel Maldanodo Jr, was actually shot but he slid from the car and into the river.
Officials said they’re still searching for Maldanodo.
A tower truck was used by local fire department rescuers to save the woman and child from the car.
