PHILLIP Schofield’s WeBuyAnyCar replacement Jeff Obeng has been seen filming his first advertisement for the lucrative car-buying company.
The This Morning presenter was dropped from their promotional campaigns after five years – a deal worth £1million – shortly after being accused of jumping the 12-hour queue to see Queen Elizabeth’s coffin lying in state.
然而, Webuyanycar.com insist the decision to part ways with Schofield after more than five years was not connected to the incident.
反而, the business has now recruited Obeng – best known on TikTok as Mufasa or Cousin Skeether – in order to appeal to a younger market after he hit internet fame thanks to his dance routines in the passenger seat of a car.
Most prominently he was seen doing his own take on 1992 hit Push The Feeling On by Nightcrawlers alongside C.T Moody, aka Hypeman.
A source told The Sun at the time of Schofield’s exit: “Mufasa is just what the brand needs to inject some energy into the adverts after the backlash following ‘queue-gate’.
“Bosses had to make a quick decision after Schofield was axed, and the hope is that a TikTok star will also appeal to a younger audience.”
On set of the new ad, Obeng was seen with a beaming smile as he danced around for the cameras in his signature red shorts and eye-catching orange and green patterned shirt.
During one shot he is seen in front of an office outlet while he busted his moves which appeared to include the running man (经典的).
In between takes, Obeng was wrapped up from the cold in a green puffy coat.
The American-born internet sensation first started making videos in 2019, and has become so popular stars including Katy Perry and Gordon Ramsay have attempted to recreate his moves.
His recent videos include him jumping out of a car with joy as he dances to Beyoncé’s Break My Soul, and performing in New York’s Times Square with Nick Kosir, aka The Dancing Weatherman.
