Ele disse: “The family are torn. I’m also getting a lot of grief from members of the family so I have to run that gauntlet a bit.

We were always close, like father and daughter. It’s like losing two of them – Star and Frankie. Up until 18 Frankie was brilliant.

She lived with us for two years, Anita taught her to cook – we never had an argument.

When Savannah came along everything changed. She got into Frankie’s head and turned her into this vile nasty person. It’s awful.

It comes after it emerged that Brockhill was revived twice in jail before her trial — but her victim’s family say she should have been left to die.

She collapsed while on remand and was found face down after a 90-minute seizure two days before facing murder charges for battering Star.

The amateur boxer suffered two cardiac arrests — but was revived each time by medics, who performed lifesaving CPR on her.

Star’s great-grandad Frank Smith, 68, told the Sun on Sunday: “I wish they had let her die. Star’s injuries were so horrific they couldn’t revive her. And yet, Brockhill is saved. How unfair is that?”

SAFEGUARDING REVIEW

A safeguarding practice review has been launched into Star’s death, which came just weeks after the horrific murder of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes.

In a chilling echo of the six-year-old’s death, there were five opportunities to save Star but the family’s concerns were ignored by social workers and police.

Boris Johnson has vowed that action will be taken to stop suchshocking and heartbreakingtragedies in future.

Na sentença, a powerful victim impact statement was read by Star’s great-grandmother Anita Smith, who had warned social workers: “Do you want another Baby P?”

She told how Star’s smile wouldlight up a roomand revealed how shethrivedin the ten weeks she cared for her.

Anita added: “Her death was devastating. Her pain was so unnecessary when we were all here willing to look after her.

All I want is Star back, I know there is nothing anyone can say or do to change what happened but it doesn’t stop me praying every day.

I kiss her photo every night and say goodnight Star, and morning beautiful when I wake up.
