EMMERDALE fans were left balling following tonight’s episode as the storm claimed its first victim.
Viewers of the hit ITV soap opera were left heartbroken as Harriet Finch succumbed to the injuries she sustained during her quad bike accident during Sunday’s birthday episode.
Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton) was on a mission to locate a heavily pregnant Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) who became stuck in the storm after she began to develop contractions.
Amelia bunkered down in a barn to escape the harsh weather but with no one around and no exact location as to her whereabouts, Harriet and Kim separately set off on a bid to find her.
After Harriet got into difficulty with her quad bike, she was flung off it where she landed at the bottom off a hill.
Despite being rattled, Harriet was able to stand back up and dust off the accident before the quad bike fell from above her and landed atop her, crushing her in the process.
As Harriet laid there, gravemente herido, her love rival Kim Tate (claire rey) arrived on her horse, Ice, as she discovered a barely-moving Harriet.
Harriet begged Kim to remain with her as she began to die from her injuries as Kim did all she could to save her.
Viewers of the show were left devastated as Harriet died from her injuries with many at home close to tears at the moving scenes.
One knocked for six fan wrote on Twitter: Absolutely heartbroken that the wonderful @BlytonDow has left our screens. Thank you so much for all the wonderful memories of Harriet Finch.”

Another refused to believe it and said: “Harriet actually dead or is this a trick?”

While another felt heartbroken for Kim Tate, who had attempted to save her, y dijo: “oh Kim loving this side of the queen. She’s not that evil end of the day, did her best to save Harriet.”
Harriet’s untimely death came as a cow stampede rocked the Dales after they managed to escape Moira’s barn – wreaking havoc.
Speaking about her exit from the show, actress Katherine Dow Blyton said: “On the actual day I was covered in blood and I had various bits of woodland hanging out of my hair. We had these industrial wind machines which were literally blowing sand and debris into your eyes.
“So when it came to it, it wasn’t as emotional because the technicality of what you have to do takes away from the emotion so I managed to get through the day without sobbing.”
Ella añadió: “The death wasn’t my last scene though but on my last day I received flowers and lovely gifts and messages.
“I don’t think it will hit me that I’m not going back for a couple of weeks because it feels like I’m on a break but it will slowly hit me.”
