A WOMAN who was unvaccinated had her arms and legs amputated after Covid caused blood clotting in her body, is daar berig.

Candice Davis, 30, who had no pre-existing medical conditions, went to hospital on Philadelphia within days of catching the virus and spent three weeks on a ventilator

But she developed heart complications and blood clots, and doctors transferred her to a machine which pumped oxygen directly into her blood.

When she eventually woke up the lack of circulation to her arms and legs meant her life was still in danger, die Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Her mom Paige then had to break the news to both her arms below her elbow, a leg below the knee and part of one foot would need to be amputated.

Candice, who was admitted to hospital on August 17, and her family are speaking out to raise awareness about the importance of getting vaccinated against Covid.

“Get the vaccine – you don’t want to lose your limbs. En, most importantly, you don’t want to lose your life," sy het gese.

Paige said of her daughter: “Her goal was to get the vaccination, but she just didn’t get to it. So, she wasn’t vaccinated and it took out her heart.”

The hospital worked from Colorado Springs described what happened to Candice as “hurtful” and “scary”.

“I work at a hospital, and to have my child go through this — I didn’t know how to react to it at all. It was overwhelming. All we did was start praying.

“The strongest one out of all of us is Candice. She has her crying days, she has her good days, but she’s stronger than all of us.”

Earlier this year it was reported a woman was infected with Covid was forced to have three fingers amputated after the disease turned them black.

The 86-year-old, who hasn’t been named, tested positive for coronavirus after going to hospital in Italy during the first Covid wave in April last year.
