MANCHESTER UNITED duo Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are in danger of missing out on the 2022 World Cup.
That’s according to bookmakers Ladbrokes, who make it just a 5/2 shot for the pair to be left OUT of England’s 23-man squad.
England will fly out to Qatar as one of the leading contenders to lift the coveted trophy.
The competition kicks off on November 21st with Gareth Southgate’s side taking on Iran — eight days after the Premier League pauses.
But both Rashford and Sancho both face uncertainty over their inclusion.
The Red Devils superstars have struggled to find form this season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim boss Ralf Rangnick.
They’ve managed just ten goals and five assists between them in 67 appearances in all competitions.
Bukayo Saka, Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden are all seemingly ahead of them in Southgate’s pecking order.
To Start England’s First Match of 2022 World Cup – Forwards
- Harry Kane – 2/9
- Phil Foden – 8/11
- Raheem Sterling – 4/5
- Jack Grealish – 6/4
- Bukayo Saka – 9/4
- Jadon Sancho – 13/2
- Jarrod Bowen – 13/2
- Marcus Rashford – 9/1
- Ollie Watkins – 12/1
- Tammy Abraham – 20/1
- Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 20/1
- Callum Hudson-Odoi – 20/1
- Harvey Barnes – 25/1
- Patrick Bamford – 33/1
- Danny Ings – 50/1
And the emergence of West Ham’s in-form Jarrod Bowen, who has netted 15 goals and provided 11 assists, could further harm their chances.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “If there’s one thing Gareth Southgate isn’t lacking, it’s a wealth of attacking options.
“And with Manchester United continuing to struggle for form, the odds suggest Sancho and Rashford could both be left at home later this year.”
There is, of course, still plenty of time for players to make their cases.
England’s Nations League campaign starts this summer and more international friendlies will take place before the tournament.
