WHEN Kim Kardashian’s brand SKIMS dropped its first swimwear collection, fans were instantly reminded of another family member’s swim launch from months ago.
The Kylie Swim brand dropped before older sister Kim’s collection, and one buyer’s comparison of the brands found a clear winner.
Hope Allen is a content creator for YouTube and TikTok, and some of the most popular videos on her channel HopeScope are massive shopping hauls from viral brands.
In her latest ビデオ, Allen indulged in a “little bit of sibling rivalry” and compared two hauls from Kardashian-founded brands.
She ordered pieces from the new swimwear line by SKIMS, the shapewear brand co-created by Kim Kardashian.
And fortunately, Allen already had some pieces in her closet from the Kylie Swim launch – which she hadn’t worn much because they were see-through, she explained in a different video.

Allen’s comparison of the brands wasn’t just a side-by-side. Placing the Kylie Swim bottoms on top of the SKIMS briefs, she demonstrated the drastic difference in silhouette.
“SKIMS is giving us coverage,” Allen exclaimed. The periwinkle-blue SKIMS appeared to be more than twice the size of the orange Kylie Swim bottoms.
その後、, the content creator compared the little details on each of the pieces.
She was astounded by “the difference in the quality on the stuff like the straps, the stitching, even the tags.”

SKIMS had visibly thicker straps, sturdier stitching, and better-quality hardware.
“これは何 $100 swimwear should look like,” Allen said, pointing at her SKIMS haul.
コメントセクションで, other consumers talked about their own experiences with the brands and discussed the wide disparity in quality.
“I think they have a different enough customer type/age that it doesn’t really matter in the long run,” Allen wrote in a comment. “But the quality difference is undeniable.”
Some people attributed the quality differences to the sisters’ experience level, or said that Kylie’s products were meant to be less practical and more aesthetically pleasing.
“The Kylie swim stuff reminds me of being a ‘fashion designer’ for my Barbies and the clothes were held together with crossed fingers and prayers,” one viewer joked.
“Kim seems more passionate about her brand SKIMS and she knew the fall out with Kylies brand,” a different person pointed out.
And some chalked the differences up to brand strategy – nothing more.
“Kim sells product, Kylie her name,” a commenter summarized.

There was also one theory that gained popularity in the comments section: その “兄弟の競争” was a marketing ploy from the very beginning.
“Maybe Kris has been behind it all the whole tiiiime…” Allen wrote.
