GREASE star Olivia Newton-John has died at 73 following a 30-year battle with breast cancer.
“Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends,” Easterling said.
“Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer.
“Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.
“In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund (ONJFoundationFund.org).”
Although no cause of death was disclosed, sources close to the actress told TMZ: “After a 30-year cancer journey, she lost her battle to metastatic breast cancer.”
Before her superstar role on Grease, alongside John Travolta, Olivia was no stranger to the limelight, having had five number one hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 during the 1970s.
She hit big in ’71 with the single If Not for You and again two years later with Let Me Be There.
She followed up those two chart-toppers with her Grammy-nominated hit single, Have You Never Been Mellow.
