A SHELTER in place warning has been issued at a California university as students are told to “move away from doors and windows.”
The chilling warning was issued campus-wide at the University of California in Berkeley just before 10am on Thursday.
The emergency alert was issued as the campus police are investigating a credible campus-wide threat, the UC Police Department said.
“Please go inside and move away from doors and windows. If you are not on campus, please stay away from the area,” UCPD said in a statement.
UCPD quickly dunked active shooter reports spreading on social media, saying officials are looking for a person “who may want to harm specific individuals.”
The threat to the university prompted a soft lockdown at the neighboring Emerson Elementary School.
