CAROLINE WEIR is thought to be close to a Manchester City exit with Real Madrid reported as the Scotland star’s next destination.
Telegraph Sport says the Spanish outfit are optimistic about signing the WSL star with her City deal set to run out this summer.
This comes hours after Georgia Stanway confirmed her departure from the Citizens agreeing to a three-year deal with Bayern Munich.
The news has come as a blow to some City fans on social media with speculation also surrounding the future of full-back Lucy Bronze.
Weir has been a standout performer in some of Man City’s biggest games in recent seasons.
The Scotland forward wowed fans and pundits with some audacious wonder goals most notably in duels against neighbours Man United.

Weir, who sealed a 2018 transfer to the Citizens from Liverpool, has made 73 top-flight appearances for the side.

Speculation concerning a Weir Madrid move comes on a day in which Stanway bid farewell to City and its fans after her seven-year spell.
In a message shared via her Twitter page, the forward wrote: “I joined Manchester City with a dream of becoming a professional footballer.
“I have been grateful to call it my home for the past seven years.
“Today I leave as the club’s leading top scorer, with over 150 appearances and seven domestic trophies.
“A huge thank you to all the staff and team-mates that have supported me on my journey.

“And to the fans who have given me unconditional support throughout.
Bayern, who finished second in the Frauen Bundesliga, behind champions Wolfsburg confirmed Stanway’s switch on their website.
Of her move, Stanway said: “Honestly, I’m so excited! It just feels right.
“It feels great to now be able to share the news and my excitement with the world.
“I can’t wait to get started and play for such a well-known club.
“It just felt right from the very first conversation.
“I was absolutely convinced and my instinct told me that I belonged here. FC Bayern has very big ambitions and I really admire that.”
