EMMERDALE fans are baffled after Victoria Sugden sold her million pound inheritance – to cover David Metcalfe’s debts.
The chef – who is played by actress Isabel Hodgins in the ITV soap – was left huge swathes of farmland surrounding the village by her grandmother Annie.
Back in 2000 when her grandmother died, Victoria discovered the land was worth enough to set her and son Harry up for life.
To developers, the land would be worth more than a million – though Moira Dingle had been illegally using the fields accidentally for years.
Viewers know Victoria’s boyfriend David has run up a string of debts with his village shop.
A few weeks ago he became unable to pay his child support payments for daughter Amba and was worried about helping son Jacob through university.

He claimed his debts were down to a downturn in the business since the pandemic.
His dad offered him a £5,000 loan to get him right – but David was furious, insisting it wasn’t nearly enough to save his business.
In tonight’s episode Victoria agreed to sell her land to farmer Moira – and had enough to clear David’s debts with a small amount left over.
But fans couldn’t understand how Moira could afford it – nor how David’s debts had grown to such a large amount.
And they took to Twitter to share their bafflement.
