A BBC News presenter has fought back tears while reporting the deaths of three children who fell into a frozen lake.
Joanna Gosling was overcome with emotion as she informed viewers that three young boys, alt 10, 11 and eight had tragically died after reportedly going through the ice while playing on the lake in Solihull, West Midlands.
Das Nachrichten anchor said: “I have some really sad news to bring you, we are hearing three boys – alt 10, 11 and eight – have died after being pulled from an icy lake in Solihull.”
She then visibly choked up before apologising and continuing: “This is terrible news, offensichtlich. Three boys have died and there were reports six people were on the ice, and emergency services are looking at the lake having got those reports.”
The presenter added: “Very sadly, we have heard three of those boys have died.”
A desperate rescue mission was launched for the children at Babbs Mill Park yesterday afternoon.
Four of the children were rushed to hospital after being pulled from the icy water.
Polizei confirmed today that three of them have died.
A six-year-old boy remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Police have not confirmed whether the boys are related and said the families were “absolut am Boden zerstört”.

Officers said searches are continuing at the lake amid fears more children could have entered the water as temperatures plunged overnight to -3C.
This will continue until they are “absolutely certain” no one else is in the water and are not currently looking at a criminal Ermittlung.
Heroic police officers and members of the public jumped waist-deep into the freezing water to rescue the kids after they went into cardiac arrest.
One policeman who attempted to punch through the ice suffered mild hypothermia but has been released from hospital.
The children were pulled from the water and given CPR at the scene before being rushed to hospital.
They are understood to have been playing on the ice covering the water when they fell in.
A resident told today how she heard the children screaming moments after the horror unfolded.
