LIONEL MESSI might no longer be a Barcelona player, but he’s still got his eyes fixed on the latest action from Spain.
Messi signed for PSG in the summer after 21 years with Barcelona in a historic free transfer.
But he hasn’t completely forgotten his old life in Spain, as an Instagram post from his wife Antonela Roccuzzo revealed.
Roccuzzo posted a picture to her story of her reading her first book of 2022, but in the background part of the television screen in the Messi household was visible.
And on it was the Spanish Super Cup semi-final between Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao.
So in all likelihood it was hubby Messi taking in the action of his former rivals.
Bilbao won the game 2-1, setting up a Super Cup final meeting against Real Madrid.
Messi’s old team-mates at Barcelona could have been there, but they lost out to Real Madrid in a dramatic 3-2 defeat in the other semi-final on Wednesday.

But despite Barca being knocked out, Messi was still seemingly interested in the events in the other Super Cup clash.
The 34-year-old won the trophy EIGHT times while playing for Barcelona, so knows all about the competition.
And clearly he’s still keeping up to date with what’s going on in the world of Spanish football.
Messi himself is yet to take to the field for new club PSG this year, having tested positive for Covid-19 upon his return from holidaying in Argentina.
He and his wife were filmed singing and dancing at a private party after returning to their home country for the festive season.
But after testing positive for the virus Messi has been forced to miss the French Cup win against Vannes and the Ligue 1 draw against Lyon.
Although he confirmed to fans yesterday he has ‘almost recovered’ from his Covid battle, so is set for a return to action in the coming days.
