AFTER Life’s third and final season will hit Netflix later this week – and its creator Ricky Gervais has revealed that he’s been inundated with rude requests from fans.
Whether he was playing cringe-worthy boss David Brent im Das Büro or performing loud-mouthed stand-up comedy, Ricky has long been considered brash and polarising.
But his must-watch Netflix comedy-drama Nach dem Leben has exposed his soft side, thanks to his devastatingly beautiful representation of widower Tony Johnson.
Als Ergebnis, it won him a whole new legion of followers – including a surprising amount of children and older adults.
Interessant, Gervais said that his portrayal as the straight-talking Tony has led to some rather unusual requests from fans – such as hurling abuse at them.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun’s TV Mag, the 60-year-old quipped: “Not in real life, but they do ask that in fan mail.
“The most frequent request is ‘Can you call me a tubby ginger c***?’ That’s the most popular line from the show.”
Since launching on Netflix in 2019, After Life has become one of the most-watched series in its history, with over a 100million views worldwide.
But Ricky insists that’s not what motivates him.
“I do this as a job. ich liebe es, but I do it as a job and I do it to get paid," er fügte hinzu.
“I’ve never done it for the awards, or acclaim, or ratings or whatever. I do it because I love doing it and someone pays me to do it.
