A WIDOW mourned at the wrong grave for 27 years after her hubby’s ashes were secretly buried by his estranged mum elsewhere, ein Gericht hörte.
Kathleen Walsham, 75, asked for the remains of Kieron Kenny, 43, to be scattered in 1989 in a garden of rest as he was “scared of the dark”.
She and her three children visited London Cemetery, West Ham, until the truth came out in 2016.
Grandson James Briggs told Central London county court Kieron’s mum Iris Garbutt told him she “acquired” the ashes from an employee.
She had them buried at Eastbrookend Cemetery in East London.
When the grave was disinterred, an urn was found.
Mrs Walsham is suing funeral directors Dignity saying it is liable for her family’s trauma — but the firm opposes the claim.
The hearing continues.
