Britain Get Singing judges left in floods of tears over emotional song for Brenda Edwards’ late son Jamal

JASON Manford, Will.I.AM and Alesha Dixon were moved to tears last night when the cast of Loose Women performed Bridge Over Troubled Water on Britain Get Singing.

TV star Brenda Edwards led the Simon & Garfunkel ballad on stage – 10 months after the tragic death of her son Jamal aged just 31.

She was joined by co-stars Linda Robson, Coleen Nolan, Denise Welch, Judi Love and Kelle Bryan all for a very good cause – supporting ITV’s Britain Get Talking campaign.

Emotional Alesha kicked off the comments as she dried her eyes: “I can barely see because I’ve got tears in my eyes, and my heart is pounding out of my chest right now because I loved that so much.

“I loved that on so many levels.” She added: “I can’t think of a better group to be performing on Britain Get Singing.”

Will.I.AM was barely holding it together and said: “That was perfect because it hit all the right emotional notes.

“Um, and you guys bonded as a family on stage and it was beautiful.”

After crying during their performance, Jason made them smile by praising their voices, saying: “I can’t help feeling that you’ve been recruiting Loose Women for this show.

“I think you thought ‘one day, we’re going to be in a singing competition, get me a Nolan an Eternal and West End legend Brenda Edwards. It was absolutely fantastic. Wow.”

He added: “And Brenda, specifically you tonight, to… with everything that you’ve gone through this year, for you to be able to get up there tonight in the name of entertainment and for this wonderful cause, I’ve got to say it was one of the most selfless and wonderful things that I’ve ever witnessed in my life.”

Gripped with emotion, Brenda added: “As my son would say, I wanted to just bring some self belief and I’m just glad that the ladies were here to share it with me, so thank you.”

The group took part in Britain Get Singing alongside his celebrities from Love Island, EmmerdaleThe Chase and Coronation Street.

In February this year, the professional singer and presenter was left heartbroken following the death of Jamal.

The businessman, DJ and founder of of online music platform SBTV was found dead at his home in west London.

An inquest has since ruled that the 31-year-old – who received an MBE in 2015 – died of cardiac arrest following a late-night booze and cocaine session.

Following his death, Brenda revealed that she received a touching letter from King Charles following Jamal’s passing.

Jamal was a Prince’s Trust Ambassador, meaning he had a close partnership with the now-Monach.
