LABOUR has vowed to borrow billions to insulate every home in Britain in a decade — to the delight of hardcore eco activists.
Sir Keir Starmer said it would cut bollette energetiche by £400, help save the planet and create 200,000 lavori.
Insulate Britain, which has caused havoc for weeks by blocking major roads — including one near the M25 yesterday — backed the move.
One female protester, who glued herself to the road, disse: “That’s excellent news. Let’s get the Labour Party in.”
Sotto Labour’s plan, homeowners would get grants and interest-free loans to pay for measures such as double glazing and improved heating.
Sir Keir disse: “If we are serious about cambiamento climatico, we will need to upgrade our homes.
“Now we have a crisis in energy prices, emissions from homes have increased and we have the least energy-efficient housing in Europe.
“So it will be Labour’s national mission to fit out every home that needs it to make sure it is warm, well-insulated and costs less to heat.”
A recent poll found 65 per cent back a national retrofitting taskforce, with seven per cent opposed.
