THE ITV comedy series The Larkins is back on our screens for a Christmas Special.
The show, which is based on H. E. Bates novel The Darling Buds of May, follows the lives of a working class family based in rural Kent. But who stars in the remake? Here’s a full cast list…
Who’s in The Larkins cast?
Bradley Walsh as Pop Larkin
Bradley Walsh will be playing the patriarch of the Larkin family, Pop Larkin.
Bradley’s son Barney will even get a cameo, playing a local policeman on the show.
Despite being known as the face of quiz show The Chase, Bradley has many acting credits to his name including Coronation Street and Law & Order: UK.
Since 2018 he’s starred in Doctor Who as Graham O’Brien – but he announced in November 2020 that he was leaving the show.
The actor revealed that playing Pop Larkin – originally played by David Jason – left him too fat for his suits.
Joanna Scanlan as Ma Larkin
Starring opposite Bradley is The Thick of It star Joanna Scanlan, who will be playing Ma Larkin, Pop’s wife and the mother of all the children.
The role was originally played by Pam Ferris in Darling Buds Of May.
Joanna is also a screenwriter and has even crossed over to the big screen in films including Bridget Jones’ Baby and The Invisible Woman.
Sabrina Bartlett as Mariette Larkin
Sabrina Bartlett is following in Catherine Zeta-Jones’ footsteps as Mariette Larkin.
Sabrina is probably best known for her role as saucy opera singer Siena in Netflix period drama Bridgerton.
Peter Davison as the Vicar
Former Doctor Who star Peter Davison, who famously played the fifth doctor in the classic series, is playing the part of the village vicar.
Davison has also starred in All Creatures Great And Small and The Last Detective.
Tok Stephen as Cedric ‘Charley’ Charlton
Tok Stephen will be playing an accountant sent to investigate the Larkins’ tax affairs – however, he quickly becomes distracted by daughter Mariette.
You might recognize Tok from previous roles in Holby City, Grantchester and Silent Witness.
Lydia Page as Primrose Larkin
Page is a British television actress who was born in May 2002.
She plays the role of Primrose Larkin – a self-conscious young girl, that worships her older sister Mariette.
In 2020, she made her acting debut starring in The Worst Witch as Mildred Hubble.
Stephen Hagan as Tom Fisher
He plays a smooth-talking new arrival to the village, who has his eye on Mariette from the start.
Stephen is best known for playing Leonardo da Vinci in the TV series Medici, and has also starred in A Royal Prince, Risen, and Lucky Man, among other projects.
Amelia Bullmore as Miss Edith Pilchester
Amelia plays the role of a “middle-aged spinster on endless village committees but lonely and unfulfilled,” according to ITV.
The actress is best known for playing Eliza Priestley in BBC One’s Gentleman Jack, and has had roles in the likes of Happy Valley, Scott and Bailey, Ashes to Ashes, Twenty Twelve, and more recently Vienna Blood.
Kriss Dosanjh as Brigadier
Kriss plays a retired Indian army officer, who lives with his sister Miss Chand.
The actor is best known for when he played Mr. Sandhu in This Is England, a role he reprised in the subsequent TV series.
He’s also known for playing Hassan Habeeb in Coronation Street, and Ashok Masum in Casualty.
Seeta Indrani as Miss Chand
Seeta plays the head teacher of the village school.
She is best known for her portrayal of Harita in the series Catastrophe, and Bryce in Unforgotten.
She’s also starred in Vera, Trust Me, Guerilla, Casualty, and Ransom.
Tony Gardner as Alec Norman
Tony plays the role of Pop’s nemesis, he’s jealous of his rival’s popularity.
Tony played John in Last Tango in Halifax, and he is best known by many as lead Brian Johnson in My Parents are Aliens.
He’s also known for Fresh Meat, Lead Balloon, Stella, Innocent, and Tracey Ullman’s Show.
Selina Griffiths as Norma Norman
Selina plays Alec’s prissy wife- Norma Norman
You might recognise her as Pauline Maltby in Benidorm, or Connie in Cuckoo.
Other projects have included Not Going Out, Still Open All Hours, Father Brown, and Jonathan Creek.
Robert Bathurst as Johnny Delamere
Robert’s role in the new series is a former actor and the go-to local celebrity.
The actor is best known for playing Sir Anthony Strallan (a love interest of Lady Edith) in Downton Abbey, and also plays David Marsden in the long-running series Cold Feet.
He’s also starred in Toast of London, Wild at Heart, and Blackadder.
Natalie Mitson plays Pauline
Natalie plays the role of Mariette’s former friend turned rival.
Mitson is a newcomer who previously played Young Mary in The Last Bus.
Barney Walsh as PC Harness
Barney Walsh enters the series in episode 1 of The Larkins as PC Harness.
Barney has followed in his father’s footsteps in becoming an actor and TV star.
He made his on-screen acting debut in 2013 on a series 7 episode of Law & Order: UK, in which his father, Bradley Walsh, also appeared in.
Since then, Barney has gone on to appear in several acting roles with appearances coming in Doctors, Indulgence and Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

When is The Larkins Christmas special on TV and how can I watch it?
The Larkins at Christmas will air on Christmas Day on ITV1 and the ITV Hub.
The feature-length episode starts at 9pm, and will finish at 10.25pm.
It’s also available to stream all previous episodes of The Larkins online on the ITV Hub.
The series is made up of six parts, but it’s not known yet if this will be a one-off or if fans should expect to see a second season.
