TELEVISION icon James Uhrin, known by locals as ‘Traffic Jam Jimmy’ passed away this morning, su familia anunció.
The Baltimore news star died at 65 from a heart attack, ZORRO 45 informó.
Uhrin was known for “guiding” drivers around Baltimore each morning as he reported on the traffic.
“Traffic Jam Jimmy” began working with FOX 45 en 1976.
He began working at the station part-time while he was a student at an electronics school run by Sinclair Broadcast Group.
During his career with FOX 45, he worked as a director and editor and even helped record commercials.

“Jimmy was one of the great men in broadcasting. A credit to his profession and one of the finest human beings that I had the pleasure of working with,” said Sinclair Broadcast Group Executive Chairman David Smith.
Uhrin moved to the news team in 2012.
It was with the news team that he began to cover community events as well as report on traffic each morning to help drivers with their morning commute.
“One of the nicest guys that you would ever meet,” said Director of Corporate Production Dwight Weems.

“He was a wonderful person who has touched so many people in our community. This is a huge loss. It’s a painful day for all of us. He will be missed.”
Each holiday season, Uhrin dressed up as Santa Claus to visit sick children in Baltimore hospitals.
“Jimmy personified hard work, dedication, commitment loyalty, and old Baltimore,” Manager of Public Affairs for FOX 45 Sharon Wylie said.

“He was blessed with family, old-fashioned values, and friends. Jimmy was always ready with a helping hand, a laugh, a story. Our hearts are heavy, but we will always treasure the gift of this wonderful, charismatic character.”
Uhrin is survived by his wife, Marie, his three children Greg, Martín, and Jess, y seis nietos.
