FORGET Christmas Eve boxes, mums are now making special gifts for their kids to open on New Year’s Eve – and they can entertain your kids for the whole of 2022.

The thoughtful “gift of time” boxes can be made without spending a penny if you are on a budget, and seem like a sweet way to start the year.

Inside the boxes are envelopes labelled up with each month of the year, from January to December.

The pouches contain a piece of paper, which includes a poem about a fun activity the family will enjoy that month.

In pictures shared to the Facebook group Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas, one mum had done vouchers for day trips like to a penny arcade machines, a mountain walk and a movie night.

The caption read: “Start a new tradition with the ‘Gift of Time New Year’s Eve Box’…it contains a year full of quality time activities to do with the children, one idea for each month of the year, it’s all about spending precious time together.”

Many parents seemed keen on making the New Year’s Eve box for their kids.
