LOVE Island’s Michael Griffiths has opened up about his struggle with disordered eating.
The 30-year-old shot on the fifth series of the ITV2 dating show in 2019.
ميخائيل certainly impressed Love Island viewers with his muscly physique while strutting around in the villa.
But behind closed doors nobody knew the extreme measures he took while trying to build his dream body years before his stint on the programme.
The reality star went on a two-month high protein, low-fat diet to achieve the look he wanted after being invited to take part in a two-day bodybuilding competition.
But in doing so, the former firefighter felt mentally drained and very alone.
Michael said: “I felt so low, I was isolating myself because I was training so hard and so focused on my food intake. I didn’t have the energy to converse with anyone.
“I didn’t want to speak or go anywhere. I had energy to train and work only.”
He continued to المرآة: “As the process went on, my obsession with food grew. I’d be constantly thinking, ‘Has this got enough protein and minimal carbs and fat in it?’
“Then straight after eating, I’d be thinking about the next meal.”

According to eatright.org, disordered eating is used to “describe a range of irregular eating behaviours that may or may not warrant a diagnosis of a specific eating disorder”.
Eating disorders come in many different forms and it’s thought that around 1.25 million Brits suffer with one.
The NHS has stated that there are three common eating disorders – anorexia nervosa, bulimia and binge eating disorder.
Michael began to eat chicken and rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as eggs, oats and protein supplements.
He found that the easiest way to ingest food was to blend it with water and drink it.
Michael added: “I was eating chicken with rice washed down with sips of water when I spotted a blender in the fire station kitchen.
“اعتقدت, ‘I’m basically doing that in my mouth’ so I threw my food and water into the blender, then drank it.”
The reality star now “understands his own body” and has his own brand called Hustle As One to help others “improve their mentality and outlook on life”.
The hunk looks even more physically in shape than he did in the villa.
He loves to share motivating posts on Instagram for fans to get into shape.
