THE latest Harry Potter spin-off film Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is facing backlash over J.K. Rowling’s involvement and the arrest of a major cast member.
The swanky world premiere is being held at London’s Royal Festival Hall tonight but journalists have been banned from the red carpet over concerns talk could turn to the author’s controversial views on gender.
Rowling, who co-wrote the film, has been criticised on social media for suggesting male-to-female trans people aren’t women.
The franchise has been thrown into further disarray after one of the leading stars Ezra Miller, 29, was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Ezra, who has played Credence Barebone in all three films, was charged with disorderly conduct and harassment in Hawaii and was later released after paying bail.
The Hawaii Police Department said in a statement: “Shortly after midnight on Monday, marzo 28, 2022, a 29-year-old man visiting from Vermont was arrested and charged for disorderly conduct and harassment after an incident at a bar in Hilo.

“On Sunday, marzo 27, a 11:30 pm., South Hilo patrol officers responded to a report of disorderly patron at a bar on Silva Street.
“During the course of their investigation, police determined that the man, later identified as Ezra Miller, became agitated while patrons at the bar began singing karaoke.
“Miller began yelling obscenities and at one point grabbed the microphone from a 23-year-old woman singing karaoke (disorderly conduct offense) and later lunged at a 32-year-old man playing darts (harassment offense)."
Ezra had not been expected to attend the premiere of the blockbuster although stars including J.K. Rowling, 56, Eddie Redmayne, 40, Jude Law, 49, and the film’s director David Yates, 58, están.

The stars will be encouraged to pose for photos but the press has been told the event is being held for fans and no journalists will be present — something very unusual for a film premiere.
The social media accounts set up for the movie have been hit with criticism over the controversies.
One follower on Twitter wrote: “Sorry JK killed her own franchise,” while another said: “BOYCOTT THIS FILM.”
En noviembre 2020, Johnny Depp resigned from the film, in which he was due to return as baddie Gellert Grindelwald.
He had been asked to withdraw from the part after losing his libel trial against The Sun over an article that called him a “wife beater” while married to actress Amber Heard.
The new movie, the third part of what is due to be a five-film franchise, is due to be released next Friday, abril 8, en el Reino Unido.

The Fantastic Beasts films serve as a prequel to the eight Harry Potter movies released between 2001 y 2011.
But the previous film, The Crimes of Grindelwald, became the lowest-grossing instalment of the Wizarding World franchise.
