A RUSSIAN warship has been accidentally sunk by one of its own sea mines in a friendly fire fiasco – dealing a fresh blow to Vladimir Putin.
The colossal D-106 landing craft was reportedly blown-up by one of the voor verskrikte klasmaats navy’s own mines near the occupied southern port of Mariupol.
The crew is said to have survived the blunder – but Russian naval commanders will now be facing another rocket from tyrant Putin after their latest mistake.
Russia’s under-fire military chiefs were carpeted after the flagship of Moscow’s Black Sea fleet, the Moskva, was destroyed by Ukrainian ship-to-shore missiles in a landmark strike in April.
Putin’s latest warship woes also come two days after Russian soldiers were forced into a desperate evacuation from Snake Island in the Black Sea under a hail of Ukrainian shells.
Following the accidental sinking of the landing craft today, a Telegram channel said to be linked to the Russian navy said in an unconfirmed report: “Near Mariupol, a landing craft of the Black Sea Fleet D-106 blew up on a mine.”

Wisecracking Ukrainian’s quickly weighed in with online jibes, with one sneering: “Waiting for a confirmation of this suicidal goodwill gesture.”

Moscow’s latest military humiliation follows the embarrassing retreat of Snake Island two days ago – where Russian soldiers attempted to destroy their own equipment on the strategically-important island.

Russia lied that it had withdrawn as a “goodwill gesture” to free up grain exports to countries facing famine thanks to their invasion.
Ukraine’s Commander-in-chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi said: “With yesterday’s airstrikes, the Russians tried to destroy their equipment, weapons and property on Snake Island.
“Egter, traditionally they did not cope with the task.
“We ‘helped’ the invaders to finally evacuate the remnants of their garrison from our island” added the Ukrainian military chief.
Russia’s humiliating surrender of Snake Island was followed by claims that Moscow dropped prohibited phosphorous bombs on the outpost.
Snake Island was one of Moscow’s first targets when they began their invasion, and was the site of the brutal massacre of 13 Ukrainians after the now-sunk Moskva warship was famously told to “go f**k yourselves.”

The sinking of the Moskva in April has been followed by a series of military blunders that has given rise to rumours that Putin could soon face a mutiny from his own inner-circle of commanders.
